Two friends were deeply passionate about driving, but neither could afford the fees required to attend a certified driving school. Without proper training, they were ineligible to receive an official driver’s license.
In an attempt to bypass the system, they obtained counterfeit driving licenses through dishonest means, even though they had never actually learned how to drive.
One day, they decided to rent a car and explore the entire town. Due to their lack of driving knowledge, they drove recklessly, violated speed limits, and ignored traffic signals. Eventually, they were apprehended by the authorities and fined one hundred dollars. Unable to pay, they were taken into custody.
Unexpectedly, a stranger who had heard of their situation came to their rescue. Moved with compassion, he paid the $100 fine. But to everyone's astonishment, he didn’t stop there—he also deposited five million dollars into the government's account as a standing guarantee, in case the two ever committed another offense.
The friends were released, overjoyed and grateful. They thanked the mysterious man and went their separate ways.
Weeks later, the two friends made different choices.
Jim, relying on the large deposit, resumed driving recklessly. He believed that since five million dollars had been set aside, there would be no consequences for his behavior.
Pete, on the other hand, was humbled by the stranger's kindness. He sought the man out, thanked him again, and began visiting him regularly. Over time, he discovered that the man was none other than the Chief Justice of the federation—a wealthy businessman who owned several companies, including a state-of-the-art driving school.
Pete expressed his desire to enroll in the school but confessed that he couldn’t afford it. The man smiled and said, “Don’t worry. You’re welcome anytime. I’ll cover the cost.”
Pete enrolled, trained diligently, and eventually became a skilled and responsible driver. He received a valid driving license and could now drive anywhere with confidence and peace of mind.
Meanwhile, Jim had violated over a hundred traffic laws within the year. Though he was never detained—thanks to the standing deposit—his reckless habits led to numerous accidents. Tragically, one of those accidents resulted in the loss of his leg.
