THE GREAT COMMISSION

The Great Commission stands as the final mandate given by our Lord Jesus Christ before His ascension to the Father (Matthew 28:18–20). Through His steadfast faithfulness and boundless grace, this divine charge has endured for over two thousand years—beginning with the apostles, disciples, and early followers of Christ, and continuing through believers today.
THE MESSAGE OF THE GREAT COMMISSION
At its core, the Great Commission proclaims the Gospel—the glorious news of reconciliation between humanity and our Creator. Scripture reveals our universal need for redemption:
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
"For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23)
In essence, mankind has violated God’s holy law, and the penalty for this rebellion is eternal separation from Him—a spiritual death. Yet, God takes no pleasure in the destruction of the wicked:
"Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?" (Ezekiel 18:23)
Though God calls us to repentance, our efforts alone could never atone for sin. In His infinite mercy, He provided the ultimate sacrifice—His own Son. Jesus Christ bore the full weight of divine wrath, becoming the sin offering for all humanity:
"Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer... the Lord makes His life an offering for sin." (Isaiah 53:10)
“The sinless Son of God was crucified, taking upon Himself the punishment we deserved. He died, was buried, and descended into the realm of the dead—yet death could not hold Him. On the third day, the Father raised Him in victory, for no guilt was found in Him. Through His resurrection, we too are justified and redeemed” (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).
WHO WAS SENT?
Every believer who has turned to God through faith in Christ’s finished work is commissioned to share this Gospel. Jesus declared:
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." (Mark 16:15)
This mission extends to every people group—not merely political nations, but all tribes, tongues, and communities. You can begin by proclaiming salvation to your family, neighbors, and friends, for the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16).
Let us, therefore, fulfill this sacred calling with urgency and love, knowing that the time is short and the harvest is plentiful (Matthew 9:37–38). May we be faithful stewards of the message that brings life to the lost and glory to our risen King!
